See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way I am commanding you today, to go after other gods that you have not known. Deut. 11: 26-28
God gave His people a choice to either receive a blessing or a curse. If they obeyed God’s word and remained apart from the sin of the surrounding nations, then God would bless them. His blessings would come upon them wherever they were. If they chose or slowly adapted to the ways of the ungodly, God’s curse would come upon them. This would rob them of the life and blessings they could receive from God.
However, God’s people didn’t take His warning serious. They often adapted to the ways of the surrounding nations of worship of false gods. This would put them under His curse.
God puts the same choice to us today. We can choose to follow God or ungodly. We can either choose the blessing or the curse. When we choose God and his ways, serving him continually serving him; we will have his blessing and his power. However, if we depart from God, we choose the curse. We will lose His presence, help, and convenient protection.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Father, for your love for us. Thank you for giving us a choice on who to serve. God, I pray that we will choose you throughout the day, every day. I pray that we will stand strong for your ways and not let sin creep into our lives.
