Are you ready to be the Bride of Christ? Jesus is communicating that He has a purpose of a special relationship of oneness with Him. Look at Titus 2:11-14, “For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.”
This reflects what we have seen as we have looked at the relationship between the Lord Jesus and His bride. We belong to Him. We are secure, loved, and destined to reign by His side. As we think about our relationship to Jesus, what applications do you see in 1 Corinthians 6:12-20? We have been bought with a price, and we are not our own. We belong to our Lord. Paul is talking about us walking in purity and holiness, not in immorality. God wants others to see the beauty of holiness in all we do. The Holy Spirit indwells in us as His temple. He now indwells in us His very own. He wants us to reveal HIm as He truly is so that others have a right opinion and give true honor to Him. Jesus gave all His life to us. All he wants is for His Bride to be to live so that others will see what kind of groom HE is.
Read Proverbs 11:22, 12:4, 15:16-17, 17:1, 19:13-14, and 21:19. How do these verses relate to the groom and the bride? How can we apply Ephesians 5:33 as His bride to our lives? How can we abide by him according to 1 John 2:28? What does abide mean? It means to be obedient and have a surrendered walk to Him.
How is your walk with your groom, Jesus? What might things make you ashamed at His coming?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for communicating with us about what you want in our life. I pray that we will take the time to examine our lives and make our life changes to honor you. I pray that we will abide in you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
