The Church

For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free and all were made to drink at one Spirit.  1 Corinthians 12:13

We believers are one body, We are the church.  The community of true believers.  When we receive Christ as our savior, we are spiritually united with other believers in love and purpose.

In Christ body, we are not to be divided by race, cultural, social banners or disunity.  We may be different in thought, opinions, interests, and gifting but we all have one common goal – to do the will of God and be obedient.  If we are not in unity, we are disobeying God.  I am not saying that we won’t have disagreements or hurt from each other, because we will.  What I am saying is even in disagreements and hurt we have to strive for unity.  It means we still have love our brothers and sisters.  It means the moment we realize we are hurt, offended, or angry with a fellow member of God’s family, we deal with it.  We have to actually take ownership of what the issue is.  Ask the hard questions that reflect back to yourself.  For example, “Where am I at emotionally and spiritually?” If you are not here you should be spiritually, you will take offense to others, when really you shouldn’t be.  Next, while searching out the truth, you still have to love the person (s).  It does not give you the right to mistreat them, be standoffish, or ignore them.  How you treat them back is also just as hurtful.  You also have to take ownership of the conflict you caused in the situation.  Satan will grab any situation to make a bigger disunity in the body of Christ.  We have to follow the principles of Matthew 18.  (This is for another devotion).

Here is the thing make sure it is a big deal and not you taking offense to something that could be a misunderstanding and settled sooner than later.  Also, a misunderstanding that you are not making a bigger deal then what it needs to be.  Don’t play the victim in the conflict, be the peacemaker  that doesn’t want Satan to get involved.  Remember He speaks lies.  Keep unity and love in the body of Christ.  We are all brothers and sisters, who are ask, Jesus for  forgiveness and drink from the Spirit.

Dear God,

I ask that if anyone has a conflict with another believers, please speak to them on how to handle the situation.  Soften both sides of the situation, and let there be healing.

Amen
