Do you know how God speaks to the church as a whole for His will to be done?
A church comes to how the will of God when they, the body, understands what Christ, the head, is telling them. Individuals come to know God through an intimate relationship with God. The Holy Spirit speaks through prayer, bible reading, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purpose, and His ways.
In the old Testament, the Holy Spirit didn’t dwell in everyone. He only dwelled on certain chosen person. In the old testament God spoke to His people through a leader, a prophet, a priest, and a king. For example, God would tell Moses what his will was for Israel, then Moses would tell the people what God wanted them to do. Israel, then for the most part, would do what Moses said to do.
In the New Testament, when the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost, He dwelled in every believer and that is how it is today. God created the body, the church, so that every person needed other members. Every believer has access to God. God speaks to every believer or any one member. He can work through the whole church body to reveal His will. God, also, led apostles as they guided the church. In Acts 1:12-26, shows how the church worked together in serving God and making a decision under Christ’s Lordship.
The will of God is very important. God may speak to a person of the church and then that person should share it with the church. The church should then pray and seek God for themselves. Leaders don’t have to convince the people. The Head of the church does the convincing. This is all on His timetable.
The church needs to know what God’s will is and also know when God wants them to do it. We must wait on His time. We must not go ahead of him or be far behind him. This will help build patience and trust amongst each other. Remember God will ask you to do what you don’t want to do. How will you handle that?
What is God speaking to you about being a member of the church Body? Are you letting God lead? Are you being obedient?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for making us a church body. I pray for those that have been hurt by the church. I pray that they will seek you out during this time and have healing. I pray that they will forgive. I pray that they will be obedient to you and still be apart of the church because you ask this of us. I pray that each of us seek your will and seek your timing.
In Jesus Name
Amen
