Now is the eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3
What are the essentials of having fellowship with God?
The third essential is experience God in a real and personal way. Having a relationship with God is based on each of our own experience with Him. We cannot depend on our relationship with God through our spouse, parent, friends, pastor, church family, etc. Our Koinonia with God must be real and personal.
We have to be active and not a spectator. We can’t allow anything or anyone to become a threat to us in making us a spectator and not an active participant. Leaders need to be careful to promote a personal relationship with God and not programs where people miss out on an encounter with God. We need to promote a personal encounter experience with God. We need to speak spiritual truths and realities that will have an encounter and just not knowledge.
Last we need to completely trust God. We have to depend on the Holy Spirit to do the things only God can do. We have to trust in God and God alone. How is your trusting God? Do you struggle trust Him in all things or do you find yourself trying to take control.
When we don’t trust God, we are breaking our fellowship with God. When we put our trust in other things other than God we are breaking our fellowship with God. Here is list of things that we can put our trust in God: yourself, abilities, resources, other people – their abilities and resources, programs or methods, manipulation or coercion, pressure tactics, guilt, and deceit. These are just a few to mention. God will provide what we need and when we need to accomplish His purposes and plans. We need to just trust Him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for having everything in your hands. I pray that we will trust you wholeheartedly. That we will not try to do things on our own. I pray that we will seek you and listen to what you are saying to each of us. I pray that we will love you enough that we will obey you in all things
In Jesus Name
Amen
