“so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” John 15:16-17
Do you have a person you admire for their relationship with God, that when you grow up, you hope to be like them? How about a person who is willing to at any opportunity to share about Jesus? I have many people like that in my life. I am still striving to be like them in this area of my life. To have that confidence!!! Let’s read 1 John 5:14-15. How do these verses relate to John 15:16? What can we be confident in? How does this make you feel to know you have God’s ear when you pray according to his will? What else stands out to you from these verses?
We are going to read more verses about prayer!! Go to Matthew 6:5-13, Matthew 7:7, Ephesians 2:18, Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Hebrews 4: 14-16, and James 5:16-18. Write down all that you learn about prayer.
In the following verses, they will show us what we can ask for in prayer. Read 2 Chronicles 20:4, Psalm 121:1-8, Luke 11:13, John 16:24, Philippians 4: 6-7, James 1:5-8, 2 Peter 3:9, and 1 John 1:9. It is up to God when He will answer prayers and how He will answer those prayers.
Read Isaiah 55:8-9 and Romans 8:26-27. How do these two passages relate to one another? What does the Father know according to verse 27? What does the Holy Spirit do for us in verse 27? What things can comfort you in these verses, especially when prayer is baffling or has no clear answer yet?
Now Read Luke 18:1-8. Why do you think God honors those who are persistent in prayer? What things develop in us when we pray persistently and wait for an answer?
Keep praying prayers. Keep prayers with the character and reputation of Jesus. Keep praying in His name. God is so good!
Dear Heavenly Father
Thank you for allowing us to come to you in prayer. Thank you that we can come with you in anything and call on your name.
In Jesus Name
Amen
