When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, And behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “ are you for us, or for our adversaries?” And he said,” No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.“. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him,” what does my Lord say to his servant?” And at the commander of the Lords Army said to Joshua,” takeoff your sandals from your feet, for the place where you were standing is Holy.” And Joshua did so. Joshua 5:13-15
Do you know that there is a spiritual world around us?
Can you recognize when there is a spiritual warfare going around you?
Joshua was made aware of God’s unseen presence in a spiritual army that was prepared to fight alongside his faithful people in Jericho. The angel was on God side and leading the quest, or Mission, to fulfill God’s purposes. The power of God’s spiritual armies is available to his people only as they obey him and working in cooperation with those same purposes.
Joshua’s experience teaches us that we are not alone in our struggles on this earth. There are spiritual forces fighting for us as well as against us. Let’s take a look at Hebrews onJoshua’s experience teaches us that we are not alone in our struggles on this earth. Hebrews 1:14. It says, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? There are spiritual forces fighting for us as well as against us. How comforting is it that God’s angels are battling along side of us?
but God‘s Holy Spirit constantly comes alongside those who are faithful to the Lord, helping in defending them. In John 14:16-24, Jesus calls the Holy Spirit another Helper. The Holy Spirit is to be with us forever. He strengthens us.
Spiritual warfare can sound scary! However, all we have to remember is that God is with us, he has an army fighting alongside of us!!
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray that was we become more aware of your truth that we will have your peace. I pray that as we learn about spiritual warfare that we have your peace! We have nothing to fear with you at our side!!
