Have you ever doubted God’s love for you? Do you know of anyone that doubts God’s love for them? How about these questions, “How could God let His Son die for his enemies?”; “Well, if God loves me so much, why does he allow bad things to happen?” What other questions have you asked or heard of?
What do you know about justification? The truths we know about justification is that Christ died for us. We are forgiven. We have hope and peace. We are justified by faith. We receive so many things through Jesus Christ, don’t we!
Let’s dig into verse 2-5, “through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.” “And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” There are some really wonderful words to dig into. Take a look at the word exult. How do these verses contrast with Romans 2:17,23 and 4:2 word of boast. In Chapter 5, Paul is talking about exulting/boasting about God and in God. In the other chapters, the boasting was human pride. It wasn’t focused on God’s glory. We can exult God when we are in the middle of life’s tribulation. Knowing this can bring us into growth as people. We can exult God through Jesus for reconciliation with God. We exult God because of His Son’s death on the cross for our sins. Exulting in God is really about putting God where God belongs in our life. He should be the top priority and praised for all he has done for us. It isn’t about us, but God and what He does and how he does that we can put our hope in him. God didn’t have us earn our forgiveness. He had his only son die for us. While Christ died for us, we were helpless, we were yet sinners, and we were enemies. Yet, God loved us and demonstrated His love for us. That is worth exulting God. That is justification.
God gave us a gift. What was this gift? Yes! Jesus. This is our gift of grace from God. When we believe in Christ, we receive this gift. Isn’t God so wonderful? There are many words to express how great God truly is, yet I don’t think it truly describes how wonderful, awesome, majestic he is.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your gift of grace through your son. Thank you for your Son Jesus Christ and him dying on the Cross for us all, while we were yet still sinners. I pray that we will exult God and keep him in this place of exultation. Its all about our Triune God.
In Jesus Name
Amen
