Three things happened to the followers of Jesus on the Day of Pentecost. In the verse above I have the three things in red. Write them down. Search, ponder, and write down what you learn about the phrases in red.
A man name Cornelius believed in God but didn’t know about Jesus. Peter told Cornelius about Jesus. “The Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The Jewish believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on people who weren’t jewish. For they heard them speaking in tongues. Acts 10:44-46
How exciting are these verses?! What makes these verse exciting? maybe unsure, scary, uncertain, different? Speaking in tongues is speaking words you haven’t learned. This happens through the power of the Holy Spirit. The first time I ever heard someone speaking out in tongues, I wasn’t scare, however, I did think they were crazy and had to ask my mom about it. But she reassured me that it was ok and that it was from God the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues is not scary, different, or uncertain. You know why? Because the Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He will not force us to do things that we are not ready for. He won’t force you to speak. Although, I have learned through my own speaking in tongues, that it is exciting. It draws me closer to my Triune God.I believe that speaking in tongues is for everyone who asks. It’s a gift from our Triune God.
How do you feel about the speaking in tongues?
