The Light

You are the light of the world.  A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.  No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16

These verses make me think of the kids’ song “This Little Light of Mine.”

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel. NO!

Hide it under a bushel. NO!

I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.”

When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior of our life and truly mean it, we will want to light of Jesus to shine where God has us planted.  When we allow God to mold us and clean us, we shine out His glory; it’s given back to the Father.  When we hide our light, we are not giving glory to what he has done.  We are showing God our rejection of him.  As Christians, let’s be BOLD and let our light shine in our community and our home.

Ask God how bold your light should shine!  Let the Holy Spirit guide you.  Listen closely, and he will guide you.  You might need to speak, or it might just be to shower love on someone who needs it the most.

Lets Pray:

Jesus, I want to stand bold for you.  I was hoping you could help me to know your will and to do your will.  Shine in my life so others may see you in my life.

Amen
