What are you passionate about? We give time to those things that we are passionate about. If you are passionate about sports, you will take the time to watch or participate in sports. You know everything there is about that sport (s). If you are passionate about your yard, you take the time to take care of it. You water it, mow it, fertilize it. No matter what your passion is, you take the time and are intentional about it.
When we join Jesus and His mission, we join what He is passionate about. We must give our time to what Jesus prioritizes. Jesus’ passion is to expand the kingdom of God so that everyone could know the Father’s saving power.
In verse above, how closely does your heart reflect Jesus’? How often do you feel like you must be about God’s work in this world? Do you have a missions program in your church? Does this make the calling to be a witness seem optional?
Let’s read Matthew 6:33. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. What is the kingdom? What does it look like to see it first in our lives? Do you know anyone that models this well?
Kingdom means royal power, kingship, dominion, rule not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom. Of the royal power of Jesus as the triumphant Messiah. of the royal power and dignity conferred on Christians in the Messiah’s kingdom. Are you seeking God first before anything else?
In Matthew 24: 14, ‘And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.’ How does this verse speak about expanding the kingdom of God tie to our missions to the nations? Have you prioritized your own kingdom above Jesus? The church shares in the mission with Jesus. What are some ways you can be involved in God’s mission locally and globally?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being passionate. I pray that we will spend time with you to know what you are passionate about and that we will join you in your passions.
In Jesus Name
Amen
