The race that is set before us is the race that is the lifelong test of faith that we experience during our time in this world. This race must be ran with persistence, patience, and endurance. The way to victory is the same as that of the Saints. As they pushed forward to the finish line with difficulty circumstances and harsh opposition they kept their eyes on Jesus. That is what we have to do today. We must run the race by throwing off the sin which clings to closely to us. This means our most troublesome and sidetracking sin in our lives. We do this by keeping our eyes focused on Jesus. He is a great example of perseverance and victory.
The race must be run with an awareness that our greatest danger is to give up and give in to sin. This race of faith takes discipline into primary ways. First, we must once and for all put aside the sins that has repeatedly gotten the best of us and keep us from growing as we could in our relationship with God. We must stop making he same foolish choices that have led to these failures. We must also determine to put inside things they’re not necessarily sinful, but they are not beneficial and helping us move ahead with Christ. These are just deadweight things that keep us from running the race. They keep us from devoting greater time and attention to God.
Second, we must focus on Jesus and the example that you set before us. Our love for him must be our primary motivation. Our desire to become more like him must be our purpose. The finish line of eternity with him must be our ultimate goal.
Just like a runner must keep his focus on the finish line we as Christians must focus on Jesus of our goal and the object of our faith. Jesus is the founder and perfector of our faith, which means that by our faith as the beginning in him and is completed in him. Jesus is both the start and the finish of our race in faith. In our race of faith, we look to Jesus as our example of trust in a reliance on God, of commitment to his will, a prayer, of overcoming temptation and suffering, enduring Loyalty to the father. Receiving joy and completing the work which God has given us.
The joy that cost Christ to endure his suffering and look beyond the shame of death on the cross with the anticipation of the personal relationship you would have with each of us who receives and follows him. His suffering on the cross proves that he values and desires a relationship with us. His sacrifice, he bridge the Of our sin that had created a distance between God and the people, and he restored the opportunity For us to enter into the right relationship with God for eternity.
