This here is a life verse. A verse we should meditate on all day long. This verse here had become my most favorite verse even before I truly understood it. When I came across this verse, I didn’t understand the Mindset of Jesus or the same attitude of Jesus. Those were the words that Got my attention. I wrote two versions of this verse. I recommend you to search for different versions. Find the version that resonates with your soul.
Jesus’ attitude was of complete selflessness, servanthood, and sacrifice for others. Jesus puts us before HIMSELF. There is where we should put others before ourselves. We should think and do for others. Today, we have an attitude that we have to take care of ourselves before taking care of others. I think to a point this is true. However, we can also get stuck in the selfishness of our flesh here. Many times in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, they showed how Christ gave of himself to exhaustion. Jesus still put people before his needs. Jesus served; we should also serve. Even with things we hate to do. We do those things out of servanthood. Jesus was/is a great example of servanthood. We do these by having the same attitude or mindset of God. I just got back from a week of high school camp. Adults were pouring themselves into these kids. We are exhausted. However, every minute was worth it. We have to be more selfless today in a selfish world. Yes, there are times when we need to be down on our knees praying for what God wants us to do, then there are times when we do what a servant should do.
Dear Jesus,
I come before you to ask that you help us to have an attitude/mindset of you. Would you please help us to have a selfless attitude as you do? Help us to have a servant’s heart as you do. Help us also sacrifice ourselves/things for the sake of others, as you guide us too. I love you. Thank you for being our Lord and savior and or example of how to please God. Amen
