The Steadfast Love Of God

But it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord had brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.  know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keeps  his commandments, to a thousand generations,   Deuteronomy 7:8-9

As we know, the Israelites are God’s chosen people.  He was motivated by love for them.  God keeps his promises to those chosen people  – from generation after generation.  God keeps his covenant and keeps showing mercy to those who love him and keeps his commandments. God’s love responds to his children’s love and obedience.   Also, through his people’s prosperity, good health, and military success.

God is so faithful.  He keeps his promises.  Even when we let him down.  God STILL keeps his promises, his covenant.  God is our faithful creator.  He supplies our needs. He cares for us.  Here we are having a faithful God, who loves, yet we turn to idols.  We are putting our trust into something that doesn’t compare to our loving God.  Or we have put something or someone else in place of our loving God, who wants us to come to him with everything.

Put God first even when you don’t understand the why.  Trust him.

Do you believe that God is faithful?

That his steadfast love is real?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for not giving upon us.  I am thankful that you keep your promises and covenant.  You are the only one that does.  Thank you for being faithful.  I hope that we will keep as our one and only God, that when things get hard or our lives get turn upside down, that we will keep trusting you.  That we won’t doubt your love or your goodness.

In Jesus Name

Amen
