
Do you know what is important to God? Here is a slight hint, it’s what he repeats. This is the time that you really want to pay close attention to these moments. Jesus wants us to understand something significant than an intriguing illustration. So let’s zone in a little deeper to the vine, the gardener, and the branch and see what the outcome is. IT is the fruit produced.
The fruit is good for us. It gives us nutrients that our bodies need. And it tastes, or most fruits taste so good. They provide vital nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber that our bodies need for good health. The fruit is also good for the plant. The fruit is integral to plant life propagation, ensuring reproduction and seed dispersal—new life springs from the original plant’s fruit.
What are some spiritual parallels that we find about the fruit Jesus taught in this scripture section?
- The settled -in, abiding branch will produce winsome fruit that will appeal to the hungry souls. This fruit is flavored by the sweet, godly characteristics of the Vine, Jesus.
- The fruit of our attachment to Jesus will bring healing to disintegrating souls as we proclaim the good news of the gospel.
- The Gardener Father will bear the fruit we grow from abiding in Jesus to propagate and reproduce genuine fruit in other’s lives.

There is a progression that moves us from no fruit to fruit, to more fruit. John 15:2,5. God’s purpose is for us to increase. To be continually growing deeper in Jesus and become more prolific fruit bearers for HIm. The more we settle into Jesus, the more we will become like him. It is what determines us.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving us so deeply. I pray that we will keep abiding in you and produce more fruit that will help others.
