Together In Worship

And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, Acts 2:46

Let’s start by also reading Hebrews 10:24-25 and Psalm 95: 1-3.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.  Hebrews 10:24-25

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!  Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;  let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!  For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods. Psalm 95:1-3

What do these passages tell us? What do we learn about God and Jesus from these passages?

Yesterday we learned about the first step is spending time with God.  Today we are going to learn the second step.  We will focus on the small amount of our time during the week with God.  It is time we spend in the church during the week with our church family.  We agree to meet with our church family.  How much time do you spend in church and church activity?  In one week, there are 168 hours.  Out of that amount of hours, I spend 3 1/2 hours in fellowship with my church family.  In this time, We agree to worship our God.

In Scripture, church worship isn’t a suggested; it is a command.  Have you heard the phrase from believers say this, “I don’t have to go to church to be a Christian.”  The Bible calls us to a higher standard.  Jesus models this for us.  He gathered in the synagogue with God’s people on the Sabbath day of worship.  This is how we pattern our Sunday Service of Sabbath.  It is based on the resurrection Sunday.  Church worship is essential in following the ways of Jesus.  It needs to be a top priority.  It is not if it fits my schedule of traveling and children’s’ games.

When we gather for worship, we are following the steps of Jesus and the early church.  Read the book of Acts to learn more about the early church.  They were so committed to one another that they met daily.

Do you prioritize worshipping at your local church?  If you don’t, what priorities are you allowing to be in the way of going to church?

What adjustments can you make to your schedule to ensure you’re committed to gathering with God’s people?

What blessings have your received by meeting with God and His people in worship?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your love.  I pray that we will prioritize our church family and us getting together to worship.  I pray that we will see and understand why you have commanded us to gather together as a church.

In Jesus name

Amen
