“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5
An another adjustment that is part of knowing and doing the will fo God is having total dependence on God. When we do this He will complete what He wants to do through us. We are God’s servants, we must remain in an intimate relationship with God in order for His work to be completed. We must depend on God alone.
Adjustment in obedience also requires us from moving from the work for God according to our abilities, our gifts, our likes and dislikes, and our goals to being totally dependent on God and His work, and His resources. Do you think this is an easy task to complete? It is a major adjustment. We must depend on God to carry out HIs purposes. Why must we depend on God? Let’s look at a few scriptures.
John 15:5, 1 Corinthians 15:10, Galatians 2:20.
What do each of these verses say on why we must depend on God to work through you?
We can’t do nothing apart from God. We have God’s grace. We are crucified with Christ. He lives through us to accomplish His purposes by His grace. We cannot produce Kingdom fruit without God. We can’t accomplish things without Him. The method is never the key to accomplishing God’s purposes. The key is our relationship with God. When we want to know how to reach the world, we just have to ask him. He will tell us.
How do you seek God’s will? Is it where God wants to do with where you are? A successful method? A program that will work in the situation? Or how other people or churches are succeeding in the Lord’s work? None of these can take the place of our relationship with God. They won’t work. God does the work. We have to focus on God as the answer. We must seek him to see him at work. God can be the only one to tells us what to do. We must wait on the Lord for his initiative on what to do and not on our initiative. Let’s look at Psalm 5:3, In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 33:20 says, We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. Why do you think we should wait for the Lord until we have a word of direction?
While we are waiting on the Lord, we will be praying with a passionate know him, his purpose, and his ways. As we wait, we will be seeking, asking, and knocking. In the waiting we will be continuing to do the last thing he asked us to do. Waiting on Him is always better and right.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all that you do for us. I thank you that we can depend on you and your ways. I pray that we will learn to wait on you and to learn more of you during this time.
In Jesus Name
Amen
