What is a relationship in your life you’ve seen grow as you’ve intentionally devoted time to that relationship?
Every relationship grows in direct proportion to the amount of time we invest in that relationship. Guess what? It is the same way with our relationship with Jesus. The desire of our hearts when we follow Christ should be one that wants to be like him. There is no substitution for time spent alone with God. IF you have developed a regular Bible time with God, what does it look like? Has it grown your relationship with God?
Does spending time with God daily affect our relationship with others? How has it impacted those relationships? Read Luke 4:16, “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read.” and read Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Why is it important for us to gather together as believers? What do we gain from this time together each week? We should be encouraging one another. We should be praying for one another. In these verses, it shows a disciple group. How does having this type of group in our life give us what we can’t get anywhere else? Do you have this type of group?
Now let’s read Luke 19:10, For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” and Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Can you see the mission of the Father in the life of Jesus from these verses?
Where in your community can you partner with and serve locally? What would it look like to serve together as a group? Is God calling you to serve globally? How does this look to you?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the idea of building relationships. I pray that we will want to invest in others. I pray that we will want to invest in our relationship with you. Please help us to work together for your kingdom and to have unity.
In Jesus Name
Amen
