Victory

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.  May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.  Romans 16:20

Read Romans 16:  17-27

Do you like to win at games?  I am not a game player.  As a little child, I hated the games that kicked player’s pieces off the game board, for example, the game Sorry.  It broke my heart to send the little item back to their starting place called home.  It was so bad for me that when we got together for family holidays and we would bring out the games, I had to ask if it was a game where I kicked people off.  I got better as I grew up.  FYI!  Sorry is now one of my favorite board games.  I have all the cards memorized.  Having victory is joyous.  Do you know that we can have victory over sin?  We do have daily battles over sin.  We experienced victories and times of defeat.  However, we need to remember that we fight from a position of victory over sin in our lives.  We have a lot of hope in the midst of our failures.

Paul in the closing of Romans reminds us of the victory we have in the good news.  What are Paul’s final appeal and encouragement to the Roman Church?  Paul warns the church that good news can get twisted.  He tells us to watch out for people that cause division, serve for their own interests, smoother talkers, and deceit.  Paul warns the church to watch out for those who try to change the clear, simple gospel message.  The good news should not be buried, distorted, or changed in any way.

We can not add or subtract anything from the Good News.  Even though this does happen we know that these people are human.  Read Ephesians 6:12.  Now reread Romans 16: 20.  Who does Paul say will be crushed? What word is used to describe God?  God is the God of peace.  He will soon crush satan with our feet.  Yes!  There are days where we will feel defeated and that satan is winning.  We can feel hopeless and discouraged.  This is where we have to remember to put satan where he belongs – the loser.  He is not winning.  We have already won.  We have victory in the blood of Jesus our savior.  Read 1 John 4:4.  We are not free from the presence of sin in our lives, God has already paid the penalty of our sin and has set us free from its power.  Do you find encouragement in any of this?  I sure hope you do.

Remember you fight from victory.  Does this make you think of the song “Victroy in Jesus”?  Now I will be seeing this song for the rest of the day!  Yes! Jesus.  WE have victory.  This is good news.

The Good News about Jesus Christ our Savior will endure forever.  I pray that whatever you are going through that you remember the good news of Jesus and that He changes everything in your life.  I hope you remember the truths you learned in the book of Romans.  I pray that you will apply them to your daily life.  God gives us victory and we can walk in that.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are so so good!  You are so faithful.  I pray that we will keep our eyes on you and keep all the truths we learned close to our hearts and mind.  Thank you that we have our victory in you.

In Jesus Name

Amen
