What does John descibe Jesus in verse 5? What does this metaphor tell us about God?
John says that because God is light, there is no darkness in Him at all. What are the implications of his truth for our relationship with God? In verse 6, what does John say about someone who claims to know God but persists in living a lifestyle that is contrary to God? John is saying that we are lying and not walking in truth. When we are truly in fellowship with God, we will desire not to be in darkness. We will want to confess our sin. What is confess though? Confessing is to acknowledge our guilt before God and to ageree with him aobut our sin. When we deny our sin, it hinders our fellowship with God.
In verse 7, it say that if we walk in the light as he does, that we will have fellowship with others and with Him. What does this mean to walk in light? How do we walk in the light? Well, when we repent of our sins, and are honest we are walking in Jesus and his truth.
If we are the children of God, why would we choose to cover/hide our sin rather then walk in the light before God and others? According to verse 8, who are we decieving fi we defend ourselves and claim to be innocent wehn we have sinned? How does this affect our relationships?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for wanting us to walk in your light. I pray that we will be honest and walk in your light. I pray that we will change our ways that are not your ways, that we can be in truth and walk in your light. I pray taht we will repent of our sins. God please reveal any sins in our lives.
In Jesus Name
Amen
