What Will You Do

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3

Are you wrestling with anything in your life?  Today let’s travel back to the Israelites’ story and learn some insights from what happened when God told Moses to lead them out of Egypt and into the wilderness.  Read Exodus 3:1-2.  What was Moses when he saw the burning bush?  Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness as a shepherd before he led the Israelites out of Egypt.  At the burning bush, Moses hears God speaking to him.  Read Exodus 3:7-8.  Who did God hear?  What does God do?  What are God’s plans? Where does He take them?

Let’s read some scripture that Shows God’s promises.

Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalm 34:17, Isaiah 43:2, John 8:36, Revelation 21:4.  What promise do you need today?  Why do you need this promise?

Read Exodus 1:11-15.  What are Moses’ objections to God’s instructions? What holy name does God tell Moses to give the Israelites when they ask who sent him?

Moses didn’t feel qualified to lead the Israelites, to represent God, or communicate well.  Yet, God’s plan didn’t rely on Moses.  God was inviting him to show up in the areas where God sent him and share the message that God gave him to share.  God would do the rest.

Read Exodus 1:19-21.  What does God tell Moses that Egypt’s king won’t let the Israelites go unless what happens?  What will God cause the Egyptians to give the Israelites as they leave?  God’s mighty hands are the only thing that will let the Israelites leave Egypt.  It is His hands that make the Pharoah let them go.

When we go through seasons of wilderness, we can give up, which is losing hope.  Giving in is caving into another’s agenda. Is there any area in your life that you want to give up or give in?

Letting go is not trying to fix or force a solution but living in faith that God will do what is best!  Letting go is surrendering.  It is a prayer, a plan, and a process.

Read 2 Corinthians 10:4 and Galatians 6:9.  What weapons do we have available to us to fight back against control-loving mindsets and behaviors?  Why does Paul encourage us to keep going and not give up trusting God?  We need to surrender to God.  Are you ready?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for walking alongside us.  Thank you for having a plan for us.  I pray that we will surrender all to you and trust you.

In Jesus Name

Amen
