Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also by aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1
How long have you been a follower of Christ?
Has it been easy or hard?
Our Christian walk requires hard work. It requires us to let go of whatever endangers our relationship with God. We are to run with endurance. Our Christian walk requires hard work. We are to run with patience. This race is the lifelong test of faith that we experience here on earth.
The way to victory is to do what the Saints did. They pressed into their Faith. They push past the difficult circumstances or hard opposition.
The race must be ran by taking off the sin which Clings so closely to us. This means the things that are our most troublesome and sidetracking sins. We can look to Jesus as our example of perseverance and victory.
Our race must be ran with awareness. The awareness that we need to watch out for is the temptation to give up on our walk with our Triune God. We will want to give into the sin that is tempting us. We will want to return to the land that we know. This means to go back to our old ways of life. It would be easier to return to our citizenship of the world, which follows corruption, God defying ways.
There are two primary ways to have discipline in your faith. We must fully let go of the sin that is repetitively gotten the best of us. This keeps us from growing in our relationship with God. We need to stop making the same choices that lead us to our failures. We should be willing to put aside the things that not necessarily sinful, but aren’t beneficial in helping us move forward in our relationship with God. These things are known as deadweight that keeps us from putting more time and attention towards God.
The other discipline is that we must set our eyes on Jesus. He is our example on how to live a life for God. Our love for him as our motivation to keep running the race. Our purpose is to become more like Jesus. The finish line is having with our triune God.
How is your race going?
Are you running with patience and endurance?
Are their things in your life that you should give up/ let go of, that is not beneficial to your walk with Christ?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being with us. God, I ask that you help us to push forward with our walk with you. Help us to have a deeper stronger relationship with you and when it gets tough and hard when won’t quit!
In Jesus Name
Amen
